Job summary

City University of Hong Kong seeks a Director of Student Development Services to lead a professional team in delivering counselling, career development, cultural programmes and student welfare. You will align SDS with the University’s strategic plan, foster holistic development campus-wide, and build relationships with employers, student bodies and external partners.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline with substantial senior-level management experience serving young people.
• Extensive liaising with industry, community and international outreach to enhance student development.
• Strong leadership to plan strategically, handle crises and complex issues in a fast-changing environment.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills; fluent in English and Chinese (Putonghua).

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and intellectual leadership for the development of SDS in alignment with the University’s Strategic Plan.
• Promote holistic student development and education across campus while sustaining a caring campus culture.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with academic units, employers, students and student bodies.
• Address students’ needs in support of their personal and professional development.
• Contribute policy formulation and operational strategies to student services and student affairs.
• Broaden students’ international and regional perspectives and exposure.
• Maintain quality facilities for counselling, employment, sports and cultural activities.
• Strengthen the University’s profile through external collaborations and associations; oversee SDS staff.
