Argyll Scott is seeking a senior data science leader in Hong Kong to define AI and analytics strategy, engage stakeholders, and prioritise a robust data science roadmap. The role requires guiding teams, reviewing models and Python code, and translating complex insights into business value across retail analytics initiatives.

Experience with LLMs/agentic AI, strong Python skills, and consulting or retail domain expertise are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

• Help define the AI and data science strategy, identifying opportunities that deliver measurable business value.
• Engage business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into practical analytics and AI use cases.
• Lead the development and prioritisation of a data science roadmap, balancing business impact, feasibility and delivery requirements.
• Guide data scientists and review analytical approaches, models and Python code to maintain technical quality.
• Explain findings, model capabilities and limitations in clear business language to support decision-making and adoption.
• Oversee initiatives including agentic tools supporting trading decisions, demand forecasting and other retail analytics applications.
• Help shape an agentic AI platform built on the enterprise data warehouse, enabling multiple business units to perform analysis and develop new use cases.
• Partner with ML engineering and data teams to move solutions into production and evaluate their business impact.

Requirements

• Strong experience in data science, with a solid foundation in machine learning and statistics.
• Experience leading data science projects and providing technical guidance to other practitioners.
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to understand how business teams operate and make decisions.
• Proven ability to engage stakeholders, define business problems and communicate the value of data science solutions.
• Understanding of LLMs and agentic AI, including their practical applications and limitations.
• Strong Python skills and sufficient technical depth to review code, challenge approaches and guide delivery.
• Comfortable combining strategic oversight with selective hands-on involvement.
• Retail experience would be advantageous, although candidates from other industries are welcome.
• Consulting experience would be particularly relevant.
