Job summary

SMEC, an SJ Group company, seeks an experienced Design Manager to lead coastal, marine, and reclamation projects in Hong Kong and the region. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, deliver technical leadership, and ensure quality, schedule, and budget adherence for ports, jetties, seawalls, and related infrastructure.

The role requires strong design, coordination, and client stakeholder skills, with emphasis on digital engineering, innovation, and effective team mentorship.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years post-chartership experience in coastal, marine, reclamation, waterfront, or related large infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in the design and delivery of coastal protection, reclamation, seawalls, breakwaters, revetments, jetties, piers, marine structures, dredging, ground improvement, or related works.
• Demonstrated experience in multidisciplinary project coordination and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, coordinate, and deliver projects in Hong Kong and overseas when required.
• Lead engineering design concepts and construction methodologies for coastal, marine, reclamation, and infrastructure projects.
• Prepare, review, and approve engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, drawings, and presentations.
• Mentor and develop engineering teams, fostering collaboration and adoption of digital engineering practices.
