Job summary

Kody, a fast-growing fintech in Hong Kong, is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to shape and scale our payments platform. You’ll design backend services, APIs, and microservices powering gateways, settlement, and financial service APIs.

Join a cloud-native, data-driven team using Kotlin/Java, Kafka, Kubernetes, Redis, PostgreSQL, and modern frameworks. You’ll own reliability, performance, and collaboration with product, QA, and frontend peers to deliver robust solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in backend software development (Kotlin/Java)
• Strong microservices, cloud deployment (AWS/GCP), and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions)
• SQL/NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis)
• Familiar with Docker, Kubernetes, and event-driven systems (Kafka)
• APIs (REST, gRPC) and version control (GitHub)
• Familiarity with agile development processes
• Fluent in English; Mandarin or Cantonese a plus
• Fintech, payment, or settlement background is a plus

Your Role

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll be at the heart of our platform designing and scaling systems that power Kody's products, from payment gateways and settlement systems to mobile POS integrations and financial service APIs.

Responsibilities
