Lingnan University invites applications for the post of Assistant Manager I (Technology Transfer and Business Development) in its Office of Research and Knowledge Transfer. The role focuses on developing TT and commercialization strategies and promoting university technologies to licensees and partners.

The successful candidate will negotiate licensing deals, manage marketing materials, and build relationships with academics, industry and government bodies, with occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science and Engineering (required).
• Postgraduate degree in Science & Engineering preferred.
• Substantial experience in technology commercialization or industry setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute technology transfer and commercialization strategies aligned with the University’s goals.
• Promote Lingnan University technologies to licensees, industry partners, and funding bodies regionally and globally.
• Lead technology marketing initiatives, organize events, and prepare marketing materials.
• Structure, negotiate and manage licensing agreements and other commercialization deals.
• Coordinate trainings, compile reports and statistics, and maintain TT website/database.
• Build strong relationships with academics, industry players and investors; travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive technology transfer (TT) and commercialisation strategies aligned with the University's goals
• Actively promote the University’s technologies to potential licensees, industry partners, and government funding bodies in Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland, and globally
• Lead technology marketing initiatives, organise promotional events, and prepare high-quality marketing and presentation materials
• Structure, negotiate, and manage licensing agreements and other commercialisation deals
• Organise briefing and training sessions related to technology transfer; coordinate and prepare reports and statistical data as required
• Maintain and enhance the technology transfer website and database
• Build and maintain strong relationships with academics, industry players, and investors
• Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)

Requirements

• A good Bachelor’s degree in Science and Engineering; a postgraduate degree in Science and Engineering is highly preferred
• Substantial relevant working experience in technology commercialisation. Candidates with experience in a commercial/industry setting are highly preferred
• Sound knowledge in IP management, licensing, and business negotiation
• Strong understanding of business principles and market dynamics, with the ability to identify commercial opportunities
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including academics and industry executives. Proficiency in written and verbal English and Chinese (including Putonghua) is required
• A can-do attitude, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Solid experience in corporate report writing and compiling statistical reports
• Willingness to travel and conduct site visits occasionally
