Job summary

OOCL (Orient Overseas Container Line Limited) in Hong Kong seeks an experienced HR professional to recruit, retain and assign sea staff, coordinating with vessels and manning agencies. The role emphasizes timely travel, lodging arrangements and strict adherence to flag state and STCW regulations.

You will manage staff documentation, process remittance and cash advances, and ensure accurate crew wages, reporting to the Supervisor as required.

Qualifications

• University graduate in Business Administration, Human Resources, Shipping Management or related disciplines.
• Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
• Proficient in spoken and written English and Chinese.
• Proficient in PC skills in MS Word, MS Excel & PowerPoint.

• Plan sea staff assignments in accordance with home leave schedule.
• Communicate with vessels and manning agencies.
• Arrange sea staff travel and lodging to ensure timely replacements.
• Handle and supervise sea staff documentation to ensure compliance with flag state and STCW regulations.
• Process crew remittance, master cash advance, and other payment vouchers timely and properly.
• Compute crew wages accurately.
• Ad hoc tasks as assigned by Supervisor.

Accountabilities

• To recruit, retain & assign sea staff as per standing procedures
• Planning of sea staff assignment in accordance with home leave schedule
• Communications with vessels and manning agencies
• To arrange sea staff travel and lodging to ensure timely sea staff replacement
• The handling and supervision of sea staff documentation to ensure all are duly qualified in line with flag state and STCW regulations
• Processing crew remittance, master cash advance, other payment vouchers timely and properly
• Computing crew wages accurately
• Ad hoc job assigned by Supervisor if required

Requirements

• U niversity graduate in Business Administration, Human Resources, Shipping Management or related disciplines
• Minimum 5 years’ relevant work experience, candidate with sea experience or shipping industry is preferable
• Good knowledge in Employment Ordinance
• Proven initiative, meticulous, diligent and attentive to details
• Mature, well organized & result-oriented
• Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficient in spoken and written English and Chinese
• Proficient in PC skills in MS Word, MS Excel & PowerPoint
