Job summary

City University of Hong Kong Run Run Shaw Library is seeking an Executive Officer II (Cataloguing) to support cataloguing and metadata management in a dynamic academic environment. The role involves original and complex copy cataloguing, record maintenance, and metadata analytics.

The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree (Library Science preferred) and at least 2 years of relevant experience, with strong English and Chinese skills, proficiency in MS Office, and familiarity with library

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably with Library Science qualification.
• 2+ years of relevant work experience in library/cataloguing.
• Knowledge of cataloguing standards: RDA, MARC 21, LCSH, LCC, authority control.
• Proficiency in English and Chinese (written and spoken).
• MS Office and Chinese word processing proficiency.
• Strong communication, analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with library systems and bibliographic utilities is preferred.
• Experience applying AI tools or digital solutions to cataloguing is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform original and complex copy cataloguing of library resources in multiple languages and media.
• Review and maintain bibliographic records for accuracy and discoverability.
• Manage batch metadata loading, updates, and maintenance in the library system.
• Assist in compiling resource statistics and preparing reports for planning and decision-making.
• Explore AI-assisted cataloguing tools to enhance workflow efficiency and quality.
• Develop and document workflows, procedures, and best practices for cataloguing operations.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
