Job summary

Black Sheep Restaurants is seeking an Accounts Payable Manager to own the group AP function end-to-end across 40+ entities. You will design, document and embed processes, controls, and systems to ensure accurate and timely payments, acting as Finance's main contact for suppliers.

You will lead and develop the AP team, manage month-end close, and partner with stakeholders to standardise workflows, support cash flow forecasting, and improve supplier relationships across multiple currencies.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting or Finance; professional qualification (HKICPA/ACCA/CPA) is an advantage.
• 5+ years in accounting with a strong AP focus and team supervision experience.
• Experience managing AP across multiple legal entities and currencies.
• Track record designing and documenting AP processes and controls, ideally with AP automation or finance system implementation.
• Familiarity with AP systems landscape (Xero or similar), strong Excel skills, and online banking in multiple currencies.
• Exposure to AI and automation tools in finance is preferred.
• Hospitality industry experience is a plus but not required.
• Excellent written and spoken English and Cantonese; ability to negotiate terms with suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Design, document and maintain AP processes, SOPs, and internal controls across the group.
• Handle ad-hoc projects and drive continuous improvement in the department.
• Provide inputs to monthly cash flow forecast and AP schedules for group reporting.
• Manage supplier relationships and negotiate payment terms while resolving disputes.
• Report on AP KPIs such as ageing and on-time payment rate.

Job description

The Accounts Payable Manager owns the group's accounts payable function end-to-end. This is a build role: you will design, document and embed the processes, controls and systems that keep payments accurate and on time across 40+ entities, and act as Finance's principal point of contact for our suppliers. They are part of a vital team tasked with providing the best possible service to our restaurants, enhancing their ability to manage sales, costs and supplier relationships - in turn enabling Operations to focus on what they do best – taking care of guests.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Own the group accounts payable function across 40+ different entities, including the end-to-end payment cycle and supplier master data.
• Lead and develop the accounts payable function – setting priorities, reviewing work, coaching the team and scale it as the group grows.
• Own month-end closing for accounts payable, reviewing account reconciliations and prepare AP ageing analysis.
• Work with teammates and closely together with different stakeholders, to ensure accurate and on-time payments.
• Build and own the group's payment processes and policies – mapping current practices, standardising workflows across entities, designing internal control checkpoints, and writing and maintaining the SOPs the team runs to.
• Handle ad-hoc projects and support continuous improvement in the department.
• Own the accounts payable inputs to the monthly cash flow forecast and provide the AP schedules required for group reporting.
• Own the supplier relationship on Finance's behalf – handling day-to-day queries, negotiating payment terms and resolving disputes.
• Report on AP KPIs – ageing, on-time payment rate, processing turnaround.

EXPERIENCE:

• Degree holder in Accounting, Finance or a related field; a professional qualification (HKICPA, ACCA, CPA) is an advantage.
• Five years plus experience in an accounting environment with a strong accounts payable focus, experience leading or supervising a team is preferred.
• Experience managing accounts payable across multiple legal entities and currencies.
• Track record of designing and documenting AP processes and controls – ideally including an AP automation or finance system implementation.
• Comfortable across the AP systems landscape – Xero or a comparable accounting system, strong Excel, POS and procurement platforms, and online banking across multiple currencies.
• Exposure to AI and automation tools in a finance environment is preferred.
• Experience in the hospitality industry is preferred but not required.
• Exceptionally organised and self-directed – you build systems, keep them running once built, prioritise competing deadlines and influence stakeholders outside Finance.
• Excellent written and spoken communication in English and Cantonese (Mandarin an advantage) – confident dealing directly with suppliers, including negotiating terms and working through disputes.
• High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, able to work to tight deadlines.
