Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse (adult or paediatric registrant).

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic nurse to join our teenage cancer unit, caring for young people aged 13-19 years old.

You must be an experienced band 5 or band 6 nurse (paediatric or adult) with haematology/oncology experience. You will have the opportunity to share and develop knowledge and skills in caring for a range of solid tumours and haematology cancers. You will care for patients undergoing treatments including bone marrow transplant, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy.

You will be required to demonstrate experience and skills in this area, with leadership, development, and organisation skills to coordinate the safe and efficient delivery of care to this patient group.

Our unit is committed to caring for young people during a difficult time in their lives; we work closely with the Teenage Cancer Trust to ensure we treat the young person, not just the cancer. The unit has a dedicated team of nurses who aim to make the environment pleasant.

Responsibilities include maintaining high standards of clinical practice, administering medications (including chemotherapy) as per prescription and protocols, and ensuring the safe custody of medications through checking and administration.

You will help manage staffing on your ward and division, providing support as needed.

Ensure compliance with our clinical governance framework, motivate colleagues, champion patient safety and dignity, and drive continuous improvement.

Work with and educate junior team members and student nurses to promote excellent standards of practice.
