A healthcare provider in Stafford is seeking a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join their forensic services. You will provide patient-centred clinical care, support engagement in therapeutic care, and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mental health and a degree in Speech and Language Therapy. You will be practicing autonomously as a highly specialised SLT within the area of forensic mental health to provide patient‑centred clinical care which will encompass the skills of clinical assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment within their professional scope of practice.
You will demonstrate safe, competent clinical decision‑making and specialised care, demonstrating clinical critical thinking to meet the needs of service users.
You will work collaboratively with wider speech and language teams and stakeholders to maintain the delivery of highest quality, integrated speech and language therapy, supporting the delivery of policy and procedure to sustain the delivery of quality, evidence‑based care.
You will have passion, enthusiasm and specialist knowledge of speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) and will have an active role in the development and support of newly qualified and less experienced staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Main duties and responsibilities
Provide interventions formed by NICE Guidance and Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy (RCSLT) guidelines as well as other relevant local and national drivers.
Responsible for prioritising own workload, allocation of work to oneself and other staff, and to cover all levels of priority of work within the service.
Provide specific communication assessments and advice, as part of the assessment process, culminating in an agreed plan of action and or care and intervention. This would include the use of recognised/agreed standardised Speech and Language Therapy assessment tools alongside profession specific and generic outcome measures.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
