Job description
Role Overview

Whilst advertised as Band 8a, we welcome applications from newly qualified candidates to commence at Band 7, with support to complete preceptorship requirements to progress to Band 8a.

As part of the NHS long‑term plan Norfolk and Waveney have implemented a model of care and support based around integrated care and support delivered around primary care networks. This role links with the four primary care networks across the West Norfolk locality and delivers psychological assessment, formulation and treatment to service users in this space. The successful applicant will provide consultation and supervision related to psychological approaches to staff working in the primary care network space and work closely with both the adult CMHT and primary care in West Norfolk.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a timely and considered evidence‑based psychologically informed response and treatment to clinically complex situations in primary care.
  • Clarify for service users on their difficulties and what might be most helpful for them.
  • Support the PCN‑MHP in their role with clinical issues.
  • Initiate thinking from service users and clinicians about consistent treatment pathways for the person’s difficulty.
  • Develop links between primary and secondary mental health care.
  • Attend meetings that are within scope of the interface psychology team such as initial assessment meetings, interface and triage.
Qualifications
  • Post‑graduate degree (or equivalent if trained prior to 1996) in clinical psychology or counselling, accredited by BPS.
  • Registered as a practitioner psychologist with the Health Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Core mental health professional training and registration.
  • Experience working as a qualified clinical/counselling psychologist (Band 7) and supervise trainee clinical psychologist with evidence of appropriate knowledge and experience.
  • Experience of working with a range of complex and challenging behaviours and exercising full clinical responsibility for psychological treatment.
  • Skilled in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management.
  • Doctor‑level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
  • Ability to travel independently.
