Overview of role:
Installation, service, and support of Rapiscan X-ray screening systems. This role will have primary responsibility for supporting all X-ray, CT, Checkpoint, and Trace product lines of Rapiscan systems.
- Installation, commissioning, and service support of Rapiscan’s X-ray, CT, Checkpoint, and Trace systems at customer premises, primarily in the Scotland & Newcastle areas, with occasional travel throughout the UK and overseas.
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on-site at customer locations in EMEA.
- Conduct service site surveys before installations and prepare professional site reports.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and attend all call-outs.
- Work on shifts to support key customer sites.
- Provide remote technical support to distributors' engineers and customers.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external partners on service-related matters, providing guidance as needed.
- Submit service and non-conformance reports promptly.
- Provide feedback to engineering, product management, and QA for continuous improvement.
- Duties may be modified or assigned as needed to meet business requirements.
Candidate Requirements
- Strong communication skills with excellent written and oral abilities, capable of articulating product and process information clearly to customers and stakeholders.
- Experience with installing, configuring, and troubleshooting MS Windows-based servers and workstations is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of high-end X-ray systems or computed tomography is a major advantage.
- Experience programming PLCs is an advantage.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills for complex systems and logical problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in a field service engineer role.
- Flexibility during times of change and prompt reaction to project adjustments.
- Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work well under pressure.
- Strong learning aptitude.
- Ability to obtain airport security passes, with some requiring a criminal record check.
- Postgraduate qualification in electrical engineering is desirable.
- Recognized IT qualifications (Microsoft, Cisco, etc.) are a plus.
- General knowledge of mechanical, electrical, civil, hydraulic, electronic, or complex electro-mechanical systems, or knowledge of HV systems in medical or industrial engineering disciplines.
