Job description

Job Title: Teaching Assistant – Level 2

Actual Annual Salary: £28,859 - £31,111 – based on full time, all year round.

Vacancy 1 – £6,678 - £7,200 – based on 10 hours per week – term time only + insets
Vacancy 2 – £2,671 - £2,880 – based on 4 hours per week – term time only + insets

Contract Type: Fixed term until 31 August 2026
Hours: V1 – 10 hours per week – Monday – Friday 1pm-3pm
V2 – 4 hours per week – Tuesday – Thursday 1:15pm – 3:15pm
Potential Start Date: January 2026 – pending completion of pre‑employment checks

We have two opportunities to join our teaching team at HVA. We follow a team approach to supporting all pupils to reach their full potential. This is an opportunity for a caring, energetic, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant/Learning Partner to join our dedicated team, providing high‑quality support within the classroom to help young people reach their full potential.

We are seeking a motivated and adaptable individual with strong interpersonal skills, who can work effectively both independently and as part of a team. The candidate will be passionate about supporting children’s learning and, ideally, will have experience of working with children with SEND.

About you:
  • have an understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities and how a teaching assistant supports students in their learning.
  • be able to engage students and manage behaviour on a one-to-one or small group basis.
  • be committed to undertaking relevant qualifications, e.g. NVQ Level 2/3 in supporting teaching and learning or equivalent, first aid qualification, to ensure ongoing professional development.
  • have strong interpersonal skills, in particular with the ability to demonstrate empathy and active listening.
  • have good planning and organisational skills, specifically with regard to learning activities and support materials.
  • be someone with a keen interest in working with children and commitment to inclusion and acceptance of all.
