Biologics Applications Scientist

Schrödinger, LLC
Gran Bretaña
GBP 40.000 - 80.000
Descripción del empleo

Schrödinger seeks a Biologics Applications Scientist to join us in our mission to improve human health and quality of life through the development, distribution, and application of advanced computational methods!

Schrödinger is on the cutting edge of computer-aided drug discovery and materials science. Our software suites continue to transform the design of therapeutics and materials - FEP+, WaterMap, Glide, BioLuminate, and LiveDesign are just a few examples of the applications we’ve created.

As a member of our Applications Science team, you’ll train and guide customers in their use of our groundbreaking molecular modelling suites, provide strategic scientific support, and address challenging problems in drug discovery.

We’re seeking to fill this position in our office in Mannheim, Germany, or remotely in the UK.

Who will love this job:
  • A computer-aided molecular design enthusiast (both in theory and application) - specifically, someone who understands the design and analysis of novel biologic drugs, such as antibodies, peptides or other new modalities
  • An excellent communicator and presenter with superb organisational skills
  • A dedicated scientist who’s willing to learn and deliver results
  • A creative collaborator who enjoys helping others solve problems
  • A self-motivated team player who takes ownership of projects and manages their own time well
What you’ll do:
  • Provide scientific support to current and prospective customers, which includes demonstration of optimal use of our life science software suites, facilitation of interactions between customers and product development teams, and general scientific guidance
  • Work with biologics customers to translate their scientific vision into robust modelling and data analysis workflows
  • Troubleshoot customers’ scientific workflows, administration, and adaptation of their modelling environment
  • Engage in cutting-edge methodological scientific research and advise our customers on best practices for computational modelling
  • Publish scientific papers and present at conferences
What you should have:
  • PhD in computational chemistry, bioinformatics, structural biology, or a related field
  • A deep knowledge of at least two biologics modalities such as antibodies, peptides, enzymes, oligonucleotides, and DNA/RNA
  • Demonstrable Python programming experience with bioinformatics and biologics data structures, databases, and administration of software or applications
  • Excellent English language skills (both verbal and written)
  • Willingness to travel
  • One of the following is a plus:
    • Expertise in the application of machine learning methods for biologics design
    • Hands-on experience with computational methods and/or experimental techniques in biologics discovery
    • Spanish and/or French language skills
What we offer:
  • A highly motivated international workplace with growth potential
  • Internal mentorship and training
  • Competitive salary and a flexible working environment
  • Annual company shutdown in addition to regular vacation days

As a Schrödinger employee, you'll also enjoy our employee volunteer program, our donation match program, access to the corporate benefits platform, a dedicated counseling service, and our company travel insurance. As an employee in Mannheim, you'll enjoy local transport reimbursement, a BahnCard 50, bike leasing, and the EGYM Wellpass (corporate fitness program). Our office is centrally-located, stocked with snacks and beverages, powered by green energy, and host to many team-building events.

As an equal opportunity employer, Schrödinger hires outstanding individuals into every position in the company. People who work with us have a high degree of engagement, a commitment to working effectively in teams, and a passion for the company's mission. We place the highest value on creating a safe environment where our employees can grow and contribute, and refuse to discriminate on the basis of race, color, religious belief, sex, age, disability, national origin, alienage or citizenship status, marital status, partnership status, caregiver status, sexual and reproductive health decisions, gender identity or expression, or sexual orientation. To us, "diversity" isn't just a buzzword, but an important element of our core principles and key business practices. We believe that diverse companies innovate better and think more creatively than homogenous ones because they take into account a wide range of viewpoints. For us, greater diversity doesn't mean better headlines or public images - it means increased adaptability and profitability.
