Job description

Safran Engineering Services has a requirement to recruit an experienced and qualified Materials REACh Engineer.

In this role expect to be responsible on REACh obsolescence within the current and legacy product range and supporting technically as a qualified materials engineer across site platforms, existing product lines and projects. Identify REACh/ obsolescence and carryout necessary investigations to recommend alternatives based on technical specifications in line with customer expectations. You are expected to have knowledge and experience of surface treatments, chemical & electro-chemical processing and environmental regulation.

Day to day duties will consist of:
  • Review drawings
  • Review alternatives for materials, process specifications and their applicability
  • Provide written report and justifications on issues in relation to materials and line stop
  • Deliver against project schedule, customer expectations and team consultations
  • You will work in a cross-functional team engaging with other engineers and subject matter experts. In addition, you will work alongside quality, procurement, program managers, CoE managers and specialists/experts.
Tasks you will get involved in upon start:
  1. Work with supply chain to provide technical support
  2. Lead qualification process
  3. Writing up investigation reports
  4. Qualification of suppliers for TCS + PACS
  5. Contribute towards project and qualification scoping
Education
  • Minimum Bachelors Degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemistry OR similar.
Other
  • Experience in materials design/selection and/or process engineering
  • Knowledge of Environmental legislation, including REACh regulations
  • Technical report writing
  • Experience in the aerospace industry
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of Aerospace Materials and Processes, Process Selection, Specifications and Applications.
  • Be clear and confident when discussing technical matters across the organization
  • Early finish on a Friday - 0800-1645 Mon-Thurs, 0800-1200 Friday
  • Hybrid working available - Work is specific to Pitstone and requires interfacing with various departments - 60% in office/40% from home
