The client is a notable railway operator seeking an individual with strong experience in regulatory or criminal law. The six-month fixed-term contract offers the chance to join this well-known company with operations across the Southeast and Southwest. Court experience—presenting, reading, and handling matters before magistrates—is essential, and wider criminal law expertise will be highly valued.

The role is almost fully remote, with only occasional attendance in Reading for meetings, offering excellent flexibility and work-life balance. You can expect to visit courts (typically three times per month), and all travel will be covered. You’ll gain direct exposure to in-house legal and regulatory matters, with a particular focus on fraud and bylaw litigation. This is an ideal opportunity for a solicitor keen to transition away from police or other crime-focused roles into a more corporate setting. With consistent demand in this area, the contract has a strong likelihood of becoming permanent, but in the immediate term, it provides a highly flexible and important role that is ideal for court-facing lawyers.
