Apprentice Painter and Decorator

Ian Williams Ltd
Cardiff
GBP 20.000 - 24.000
Jobbeschreibung

Ready to kickstart your career as an Apprentice Painter and Decorator? Want to learn in an environment where you get support every step of the way? Our business is growing and so are the opportunities for you to thrive. We are currently looking for an Apprentice Painter and Decorator to join our award-winning apprenticeship scheme that could help you achieve your goals whilst also making a positive impact on other people's lives.

What’s the apprenticeship all about?

As an Apprentice at Ian Williams, you’ll get hands-on experience and learn on the job! You’ll combine college studies with practical learning to master your chosen trade. Plus, you’ll get to put your new skills into practice, supported by our experienced tradespeople - your own mentor.

What will you be doing?

Your work will vary from contract to contract, but here’s a taste of what you’ll be up to:

  • Preparing surfaces (filling, sanding, caulking)
  • Mastering the art of paint application (rolling, cutting in, brush skills)
  • Sprucing up gloss work (doors and window frames, skirtings)
  • Getting outdoors with external works (railings, sheds, fences and walls)
  • Exploring different sites, working both inside and outside in all weather, whether it’s getting hot in the homes, or wrapping up in the winter on a commercial site

You’ll also:

  • Attend college to understand the “how and why” of your trade (usually 1 day a week)
  • Build an awesome portfolio of evidence for your End Point Assessment(EPA)
  • Be a valued team member and contribute to our overall success

What do you need to apply?

No prior experience needed! Just bring:

  • A genuine passion for all things painting and decorating and hands-on work
  • A positive attitude and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to building your career at Ian Williams - we’re as committed to you as you are to us
  • Strong organisational skills (to juggle college and work)
  • GCSE (or equivalent) grade 1(G) or above in Maths and English
  • Eligibility to work in the UK on a permanent basis - we are unfortunately unable to sponsor visas at this time

How to apply?

Complete our application form online at Ian Williams Careers by Saturday 31st May. Interviews will be held between 30th June - 11th July. Whilst we try to be accommodating, interviews will be held on one day during this time and we cannot guarantee alternate dates. Proposed start date is August 2024.

We’ll only ask you to answer a few questions - no CV needed! So, spend some time crafting your answers based on the skills we’ve outlined above.

While we understand that AI tools can be helpful, we will be scoring based on your personal examples and direct experience. Generic answers won't score as highly.

Benefits Of Working At Ian Williams

  • Competitive pay rates - from 2nd year National minimum wage/National living wage applies
  • 23 days’ holiday per year plus bank holidays
  • All Personal Protective Equipment and Uniform provided
