Job Title: Senior Cable Design Engineer

Job Location: Remote (With occasional travel to Sunbury-on-Thames and Hamburg)

Contract Length: 12 Months with the possibility of extension

Role Overview:

• You will be part of the Oceanbeat Inter Array Cable (IAC) package team. You shall:
• Provide cable engineering to Cable Work Package Manager: support development and execution of IAC package
• Have detailed cable design and electrical engineering understanding with keen awareness of the Transport and Installation (T&I) of the IAC
• Review and approve cable engineering documentation from suppliers: review technical documentation from cable suppliers / projects and ensure that technical deliverables meet project and contract requirements
• Identify and mitigate risks on the package: raise relevant risks to the package manager. Support review of project risks, provide mitigations and close out risk actions. Identify and manage technical interfaces between the packages and suppliers: proactively manage interfaces related to the cables package
• Support interface meetings, working with other packages and contractors to bring interfaces into alignment
• Identify and raise Value Opportunities to the package manager. Support review of Value Opportunities, provide actions and deliver on their implementation
• Develop and execute third party engineering work scopes: Write, tender and execute third party engineering scopes related to cable delivery
• Follow management of change process: identify potential changes on the project, raise them to the package management and rigorously follow the management of change process
• Collaborate with safety, consent and procurement teams to ensure robust execution of works
• Collaborate with associated foundation, WTG, grid / transmission engineering, ground engineering / site investigation and construction disciplines to safely deliver IAC package and the project
• Ensure safe and cost-efficient design and integrity management throughout asset life in accordance with bp and industry technical practices and standards
• Maintain relationships with third party suppliers, contractors, and other partners
• Actively contribute to technology development and share knowledge and findings

What you will have:

• Engineering Degree in relevant discipline (civil, mechanical, structural or electrical engineering)
• Technical experience in electrical and/or cable engineering
• Experience in offshore projects development
• Deep understanding of the electrical and mechanical cable design
• Deep understanding of the cable routing process and ability to assess array cable electrical layouts, ensuring that cost and risk is minimised, between string, loop branch, star and other; given LCoE, turbine availability, site conditions, commercial implications and failure rate of the electrical system
• Understand the installation methodologies for array cables (their configurations and impacts on the electrical system design)
• Excellent knowledge of industry codes and standards
• Project management expertise
• Excellent proficiency in English (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills both oral and written
• Ability to manage time effectively, working with distributed teams and time-zone
• Proven expertise of working in multi-disciplinary teams and major projects with minimal technical supervision
• Strong, proven Stakeholder management, and collaboration. Comfortable reporting up to senior management
• Ability to take responsibility for respective area and scope and drive it to conclusion and execution
• Willingness to learn other aspects such as Contract Law, Electrical Safety Rules etc
• Ability to challenge the conventional thinking, innovative mindset

Desirable criteria:

• Membership of relevant industry panels or standards organizations (e.g. Chartered Engineer, PMP, APM etc)
• German Speaking
• Remote working experience
• Experience in coaching and mentoring team members
