As a System Engineer you will assist the Group Head in the application of practical experience as well as academic knowledge will be required to manage the reliability and availability of your assigned systems. You’ll have responsibility for the performance, fault diagnosis and repair, development of maintenance strategies, supporting documentation, lifetime management activities and the incorporation of operating experience. This will also include provision of an effective and efficient engineering function while identifying long term system maintenance/improvement requirements in order to achieve best possible performance of the plant.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals wishing to pursue a career in high integrity engineering working on complex plant and systems designed to operate reliably 24/7. This is a technical role within the Steam & Rotating Plant Engineering group, requiring the development of detailed technical knowledge for any assigned systems. This function requires being the technical conscience working within multi discipline teams, with other station departments and our Central Technical Organisation.
Pay, Benefits and Culture
We’re offering a salary of £40,069 - £71,779 that apply with our terms and conditions covered by the EDF Company Agreement. The starting salary for the appointment will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experiences and qualification.

What You’ll Be Doing
Reporting to the Responsible Engineering Group Head, in this position, you will investigate and identify plant faults and prepare instructions for their rectification; manage routine and defect maintenance, ensuring that plant is maintained and modified in accordance with the Site Licence while reviewing and monitor the plant systems under their control initiating improvements to give high equipment reliability.

Who you are
You’ll need a relevant HNC (or equivalent) in engineering and holding, or working towards, a relevant degree and Chartered Engineer status may be an advantage. A Control and Instrument background gained in process or heavy industries may be beneficial, as would a background in nuclear power plant operations, engineering or technical and safety disciplines although training will be provided based on existing experience.
You’ll need to demonstrate a thorough and methodical approach to problem solving and have good organisational skills. You should have the ability to prioritise work and be able to demonstrate balanced decision-making along with the ability to drive improvements.

Applicants will be required to obtain CTC level vetting prior to taking up their duties.
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
