Job Description:
White Trees School is recruiting SEMH Teachers to work with KS3, 4 & 5 pupils at their sites in Coggeshall and Bishops Stortford.
White Trees is an independent school specializing in pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH).
About the Role
As a SEMH Teacher, you will teach pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, PDA, OCD, ODD, either on a 1:1 basis or in small groups. All pupils have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) with tailored strategies and interventions.
Responsibilities
- Teach pupils with EHCPs across various SEN needs and ages, focusing on those with ASD and related conditions.
- Ensure quality teaching and learning, and be responsible for pupils' attainment and progress.
- Support pupils' progress across the curriculum with appropriate differentiation.
- Develop and monitor SEN passports, social communication development, and contribute to reviews and ILPs.
- Support staff training and guide tutors, TAs, and HLTAs working with pupils with EHCPs.
- Provide pastoral support and contribute to school development in teaching and learning.
Teaching
- Set clear objectives, plan schemes of work, and use data to inform lessons.
- Maintain high expectations and motivate pupils through challenging and inspiring lessons.
- Collaborate with colleagues and adapt teaching to prior attainment and learning styles.
- Promote literacy and numeracy skills and provide intervention activities as needed.
- Manage behaviour according to school policies and maintain a stimulating classroom environment.
Assessment, Recording, and Reporting
- Assess and provide feedback on pupils' work, maintain records, and use data to set targets.
- Report progress to parents/carers and participate in meetings.
Professional Responsibilities
- Attend meetings, undertake professional development, and support school policies.
- Act as a role model, meet deadlines, and promote safeguarding.
Qualifications and Skills
- QTS or equivalent with SEMH/SEN experience.
- Experience with ASD/SEMH/SEN needs and a proven track record of positive outcomes.
- Innovative, passionate, and proactive with curriculum development skills.
