Apprentice - Transport Planner/Operator

Job Description: Are you looking to start your career in transport and logistics? We have an exciting opportunity at Gregory Distribution's Hereford depot for an Apprentice role supporting our Planning and Transport Operations team. This is a fantastic chance to gain valuable experience in a fast-paced environment and be part of a dedicated team that keeps things moving across the country!

1. Supporting the planning and organisation of transport activities, including deliveries and collections nationwide.
2. Assisting with load planning using a fleet of articulated vehicles.
3. Helping monitor KPIs such as on-time delivery, shift revenue, and vehicle utilisation.
4. Supporting the debriefing of drivers and liaising with them on a daily basis.
5. Working with warehouse and yard teams to ensure vehicle and trailer availability.
6. Helping ensure vehicle checks and defect reports are completed and recorded using the Vehicle Check App.
7. Assisting with communication and coordination of delivery bookings and collection times.
8. Attending regular meetings with line managers to support efficient operation.
9. Contributing to the identification of opportunities for adding value to the contract.
10. Supporting booking of contracted work through internal systems in line with customer expectations.
11. Assisting with updating transport management systems (TMS) and other internal platforms.
12. Carrying out general administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, and data input.
13. Adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.

1. Committed to study and pass a Level 2 Traffic Operator Apprenticeship.
2. GCSE's (or Equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C or above.
3. Excellent attention to detail, organisation skills, and ability to prioritise workload.
4. Good verbal and written communication skills.
5. MS packages to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Competitive Salary: £17,667pa - £20,000pa, Depending on experience!

Hours: Start between 07:00hrs - 17:00hrs, Monday to Friday - during the initial training period, which may last up to 7 months, depending on individual progress and business needs. Following successful completion of the training, the role will transition to a 4on 4off shift pattern.
