Prospero Teaching is working with a Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) school in Hulme. The school caters to students with additional needs and mental health issues.
The role is available to start as soon as possible, with the potential to remain for the entire academic year.
The school provides education for pupils with an educational plan to receive their education in a specialist setting, as mainstream education is not suitable for them.
The pupils are aged 11-16 years old, in KS3/4, all with EHCP plans and additional needs.
Many pupils have experienced trauma, neglect, or chaotic home lives.
Your role involves building connections with young people, acting as a mentor and role model.
Due to barriers in the classroom, forming strong relationships with pupils is essential.
You will use mentoring skills—similar to those used in sports, drama, or counselling—to engage students and support their participation in school activities.
You will support pupils both in the classroom and on vocational activities outside the classroom.
This position is open to experienced mentors and those with a strong background in mentoring children and young adults. Depending on performance, there may be opportunities for contract extension or a permanent role.
