Prospero Teaching - SEMH School Youth Worker/TA

Prospero Teaching is working with a Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) school in Blackley. The school caters to students with additional needs and mental health issues.

The role is available to start as soon as possible, with the intention to retain the position for the entire academic year.

The school provides education for pupils who have an educational plan to receive their education in a specialist provision, due to their learning needs.

The school accepts pupils for whom mainstream education is not suitable.

The pupils are aged 11-16 years old, in KS3/4 secondary, all with EHCP plans and additional needs.

Many pupils have experienced trauma, neglect, or come from chaotic home environments.

Your role involves building connections with the young people, acting as a mentor and role model.

Given the barriers pupils face in the classroom, the role requires forging strong relationships with them.

You will utilize mentoring skills—similar to those used in sports, drama, or counselling—to help students engage with the school.

You will support pupils both in the classroom and on a vocational basis outside the classroom.

This position is open to experienced mentors and those with a strong background in mentoring children and young adults. Depending on performance, the school may extend the contract or offer a permanent position.
