Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment is seeking a youth worker for a Preston based behavioural unit to support KS3/4 students with additional needs and challenging behaviours. The role is full time and long-term with potential for permanence, offering 8.30am–3.30pm Monday to Friday and requiring experience with disengaged young people, including those on the autism spectrum or SEMH difficulties.

Pay starts at £14.30 per hour and is negotiable based on experience; a DBS and safeguarding compliance checks

Job description

Axcis are looking for a youth worker for a role within a Preston based behavioural unit. Axcis are looking for a candidate who ideally has a background in youth work and is seeking a new challenge, within an educational setting. The school itself, caters for KS3 / 4 students who have additional needs and challenging behaviours including; autism, ADHD, ODD, learning difficulties and SEMH needs.

The pupils who attend this school can no longer remain in mainstream education and often require 1:1 support or extra assistance during lessons. This would be a full time, long-term position with a high potential for a permanent role for the right candidate.

The school, is smaller than average and currently only has around 60 pupils on roll. All of the students require 1:1 support and the school are looking for a candidate with experience supporting students who have additional needs or challenging behaviours. The school are looking to appoint a hard working support assistant who ideally has a youth work background and / or experience working with young people who are harder to reach / who are disengaged from education.

The role, will start as soon as possible on a long term basis with potential for permanent position. The school hours are 8.30am – 3.30pm Monday – Friday with a 30 minute lunch break. The role will require the candidate to have strong behaviour management skills as well as being caring, compassionate and resilient.

The candidate must have some experience within childcare, ideally youth work and ideally, have an understanding or experience working with children on the autism spectrum, or those with SEMH difficulties and challenging behaviours. Pay will start at £14.30 per hour for this role but this is negotiable dependent on experience and level of responsibility. INDLAN
