Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment is seeking a confident Youth Worker to join a secondary school in Enfield (Enfield EN3) to support students with social, emotional and mental health needs in a full-time role.

The successful candidate will provide 1:1 and small-group support, build trusting relationships, de-escalate situations and work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning.

Youth Worker – Challenging Behaviour Teaching Assistant

Location: Enfield, EN3 Full-time | Secondary School

Are you a Youth Worker with experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour? Are you looking to take your experience into a school environment?

We are working with a secondary school in Enfield (EN3) who are looking for a confident and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students with social, emotional and mental health needs.

This role would suit a Youth Worker, Behaviour Mentor, Support Worker or similar professional who is confident working with young people who may display challenging behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEMH needs

• Support students with emotional regulation and behaviour

Requirements

• Has experience working with young people or challenging behaviour
• Is confident managing difficult situations calmly and professionally
• Has strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Is patient, resilient and consistent
• Can establish clear boundaries while remaining supportive and approachable
• Is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to education

Youth Work, mentoring, care, sports coaching, residential or community experience would all be considered.
