Job summary

Academics is seeking a Youth Worker in Schools in Huddersfield to support pupils who may have additional needs, SEMH, or engagement difficulties. You will build positive relationships, provide pastoral support, and help students feel settled and ready to learn both inside and outside the classroom.

Ideally you have youth work experience and strong skills in rapport-building, behaviour management, and resilience, enabling you to encourage positive choices and independence among learners.

Qualifications

• Experience with youth work, mentoring or outreach.
• Ability to build trust and rapport with young people.
• Provide practical and pastoral support to pupils.

The Role… Youth Worker in Schools

Your experience in youth work could make a real difference within a school setting. We're looking for people who understand young people, can build trust, and know how to provide the right balance of encouragement, boundaries, and support.

Working within schools, you'll support pupils who may have additional needs, SEMH, challenging behaviour, or difficulties engaging with education. You'll work both inside and outside the classroom, providing practical and pastoral support to help students feel more settled and ready to learn.

You'll use the skills you've already developed in youth work to build positive relationships, encourage better choices, manage behaviour, and help young people develop confidence, resilience, and independence.

You’ll Be…

• Experienced working with young people through youth work, mentoring, outreach, residential care, or another support-based role
• Confident building rapport with young people who may be difficult to engage
• Calm and consistent when responding to challenging behaviour
• Resilient, approachable, and able to provide positive boundaries
• Passionate about helping young people overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes
