Job summary

East Kent Colleges Group is seeking a compassionate Transition Mentor to support and empower 16–19 learners during their shift into vocational education. You will deliver targeted transition, mentoring, wellbeing and attendance support, building trusting relationships with learners, carers and schools, and working with multi‑agency partners from pre‑ enrolment through the first 100 days of study.

Qualifications

• Experience of supporting young people in education, youth work or a similar setting.
• Experience supporting learners with SEMH needs, care experience or attendance challenges.
• Excellent communication and listening skills, with the ability to build trust.
• A learner-centred and trauma-informed approach to supporting young people.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate, confidential records.
• Experience working with families, external agencies and other professionals.
• A strong commitment to inclusion, equity, safeguarding and learner wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Deliver targeted transition, mentoring, wellbeing and attendance support to vulnerable learners.
• Provide pre-entry engagement and structured induction.
• Offer early attendance mentoring and sustained relational support.
• Collaborate with learners, carers, schools and multi‑agency partners.
• Support from pre-enrolment through the first 100 days of study.
