Job summary

Lancashire County Council is seeking an Assistant Youth Support Worker to help deliver youth provision across Lancashire, working with young people to build confidence, resilience and positive life choices. You will engage with diverse groups, support programmes, and uphold safeguarding standards.

The role requires a commitment to inclusion, with flexible hours including evenings and weekends. Pro‑rata salaries apply depending on qualification level and hours.

Qualifications

• NVQ/RVQ Level 2 or JNC-recognised Youth & Community Work qualification (or willingness to work towards this).
• Ability to engage and build rapport with young people in diverse settings.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Patience, flexibility and resilience.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering youth provision and targeted projects across Lancashire.
• Build strong, respectful relationships with young people and provide guidance on issues affecting their lives.
• Support activities that promote personal and social development, inclusion, and wellbeing.
• Help maintain safe environments and uphold safeguarding standards.
• Work flexibly, including evenings and occasional weekends, to meet the needs of young people.
