Job summary

Lancashire County Council is recruiting a Family Support Worker for its Early Help Service in the Chorley, Preston and South Ribble area. The role involves supporting families, delivering tailored plans, and collaborating with schools and partners.

This permanent, full-time (and fixed-term) position offers a 29.6-hour contract in Preston and a full-time fixed-term role in South Ribble, with a salary range of £28,142–£32,061.

Qualifications

• Experience of working directly with children, young people, and families.
• Strong assessment, planning, and critical reflection skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Hold a caseload of families and deliver personalised, evidence-based interventions.
• Undertake early help assessments and co-produce action plans with families.
• Work as part of a Team Around the Family to provide seamless support.
• Maintain accurate records and apply analysis to justify decisions.
• Build strong relationships with families and professionals to ensure positive outcomes.
• Work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends, to meet family needs.
