Job summary

Christ Church is seeking a part-time Youth Assistant to support our youth ministry for ages 11-18. You will help deliver sessions, run social activities, recruit volunteers, and work with the Director of Children’s Work and Youth Lead to nurture young people in faith.

Hours are 18.75 per week with Sunday and weekday slots; the role includes residential weekends a few times a year. The post requires a committed Christian and safeguarding awareness; DBS checks will be arranged.

Qualifications

• Strong personal faith and commitment to Christ Church.
• Desire to reach out to young people and share your passion for Jesus.
• Advocate for youth ministry within the church.
• Engage with youth beyond the church community.
• Good communicator with volunteers and parents.
• Promote safeguarding policies and work with the Safeguarding Officer.

Responsibilities

• Attend staff meetings and prayer times as a full staff member.
• Support leadership of youth ministry on Sundays and during the week.
• Prepare and deliver youth ministry sessions.
• Oversee and facilitate a youth social programme.
• Recruit, train and organise volunteer teams.
• Help organise youth trips including residential camps.
• Handle administration: newsletters on Canva, risk assessments, registrations.
• Build relationships with families and involve them in church life.
• Prepare volunteer rotas and purchase resources.
• Attend evening team meetings as needed.
• First Aid and safeguarding training will be provided.
