Job summary

Children North East is hiring a CYP Mental Health Support Worker to provide high-quality 1-1 support to young people accessing the Safe Haven service. The role works 20 hours per week, in person and online, focusing on de-escalation, active listening and developing safety plans, with safeguarding at its core.

You will collaborate with families, carers and external services, keep records, and support the Team Lead in service development during a fixed term until 31 August 2027, with a pro-rata

Qualifications

• Experience in providing 1-1 mental health support to young people.
• Familiar with safeguarding policies and procedures.
• Ability to work with families and external services.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality 1-1 mental health support to young people aged 13-18.
• Create a safe, welcoming environment in person and online using active listening.
• Develop safety plans and liaise with external services as appropriate.
• Keep accurate records and participate in supervision, appraisal and training.
• Support safeguarding reporting and contribute to service development.
