Job summary

Paragon Social Care Limited is seeking a Mental Health Support Worker to assist young people aged 11-17 with complex emotional and mental health needs in a long-term support setting. You will help foster emotional safety, trust, and independence through trauma-informed care and consistent interaction.

The role requires flexibility for 12-hour shifts, including days and nights, and a willingness to work within a supportive, supervision-rich environment.

Qualifications

• Remain calm, patient and emotionally regulated in highly challenging situations.
• Curiosity about the reasons behind behaviour, not just reactions.
• Ability to build trust with a young person who may not trust adults.
• Understand the importance of consistency, routine and relationship-based care.
• Celebrate small successes and help young people recognise their strengths.
• Be resilient and maintain warmth and professionalism after difficult shifts.
• Be flexible with rota; able to work evenings, weekends, short notice.
• Hold a full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Support daily living routines and activities to promote stability, structure and wellbeing.
• Provide therapeutic support using trauma-informed, grounding and emotion regulation techniques.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, interventions and communications.
• Participate in supervision, reflective practice and mandatory training.
• Transport the young person to appointments, activities or education as needed.
• Work collaboratively with external professionals to ensure coordinated care and escalation when needed.
