Job summary

Taff Housing is seeking a dedicated Support Assistant to assist colleagues in empowering young women aged 16-21 who are homeless or at risk. You will help residents achieve goals and move into independent accommodation, following service rotas that cover 24/7/365 and safety plans to maintain project safety.

Ideal candidates have experience in care or support, calm and proactive communication, good literacy, and the ability to work on their own initiative as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in a care or support environment.
• Understanding of trauma and working in a psychologically informed way.
• The ability to respond in a calm and composed manner.
• The ability to work on own initiative, as well as part of a team.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Ability to work shifts.
• A positive approach to tackling project wide issues and responding positively to residents.
• Experience of managing challenging behaviour and resolving conflict.

Responsibilities

• Assisting Support Officer colleagues to enable and empower young women aged 16-21 to make positive changes in their lives.
• Build positive relationships and take a working-with approach to help residents achieve their goals and move on into independent accommodation.
• Work a shift pattern in accordance with the service rota, covering 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
• Follow safety and risk plans designed to maintain project safety.
