Job summary

The Children’s Society in Newcastle is seeking a dedicated Exploitation Practitioner to support young people at risk of exploitation. You will deliver one-to-one and group work, build trusting relationships and work with multi-agency partners.

This role offers a chance to make a real difference, with safeguarding training, DBS checks, and opportunities to develop professional skills across England and Wales.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience of methods in building positive relationships with children and young people.
  • Awareness of risk factors and indicators of Exploitation and the associated risks that young people are exposed to.
  • Clear understanding of children’s rights and a commitment to promoting those rights.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding children and child protection systems. Including identify safeguarding concerns, taking appropriate action to ensure the child/young person and/or vulnerable adult is protected, complete detailed safeguarding referrals, and contribute to a safe practice environment, including the supervision of others.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and develop direct support services for young people at risk of exploitation through outreach and referrals.
  • Build positive relationships with at-risk youth and deliver one-to-one support to boost skills and confidence.
  • Deliver targeted youth support, lead group activities in multiple settings.
  • Work with police, social services, education and other agencies to develop local and national projects.
  • Contribute to multi-agency referrals to enable effective interventions.
  • Raise awareness of exploitation issues with local children’s services workforce and deliver training.
  • Liaise with local authorities and police to support vulnerable children and inform strategy.
  • Champion and support next steps activities including participation with TCS’ Youth Voice and Participation opportunities.
