Job summary

Action for Children is seeking multiple Young Person’s Practitioners to support 11–18-year-olds who may be vulnerable to criminal exploitation. You will provide intensive one-to-one support, connect with education, training and employment pathways, and work within multi-agency partnerships across Tyne and Wear.

You’ll assess risk, engage families, and help young people feel safe and empowered to make positive choices.

Qualifications

  • Experience in multi-agency social care settings with safeguarding knowledge.
  • Background in supporting individuals who have offended or are at risk.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system.
  • Experience managing assessments, planning and reviews to support positive outcomes.
  • Strong communication and engagement with young people.

Responsibilities

  • Work in partnership with the local authority, youth justice services and Police.
  • Provide 1-2-1 support for young people involved in or at risk of offending.
  • Support young people with relationships, emotional wellbeing, peer pressure, exploitation, substance misuse and other relevant issues.
  • Provide coping mechanisms and support in challenging lives.
  • Offer practical support and mentoring around basic life skills, employability and building resilience.
  • Build trust, rapport and be a constant in the young person’s life.
  • Deliver group activities and outdoor programmes to assist young people.
