Job summary

Supply Desk is seeking an Experienced Year R teaching Assistant for a full-time, temporary contract in the Southampton Suburbs. The role starts in October 2026 and pays £85–£92 per day. Hours are 08:30–15:30, supporting a brand-new Year R class and helping children settle into school routines.

Experience in Year R or reception, safeguarding, and the ability to adapt resources to learners' needs are essential. DBS check will be required and maintained throughout the contract.

Qualifications

• Experience of supporting Year R or reception aged children.
• DBS clearance required.
• Ability to adapt resources to meet learners' needs.
• Understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Support on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
• Adapt resources to meet the needs of the children.
• Ensure small children feel valued, safe and respected.
• Liaise with the teacher and SENCO to ensure teaching and learning is suitable.
• Ensure safeguarding procedures are understood and followed.
• Support pupil regulation and emotional well-being.
• Lunch duty supervision and interaction with peers.
