Job summary

Tilbury Douglas is offering a Graduate Quantity Surveyor position as part of its Regional Building team. You will rotate across key areas, gaining hands-on experience on live projects, primarily in education, health and defence sectors.

The role is site-based with initial work in County Durham/Stockton-on-Tees and broader opportunities across the North West region. You'll learn from experienced professionals, contribute to cost management and commercial decisions, and work towards RICS

Qualifications

• A degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (2:2 or above).
• Full UK driving licence or working towards by Feb 2027.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a practical and logical approach.
• Good written and verbal communication to engage with a wide range of people.
• Collaborative mindset with willingness to learn and take on responsibility.
• Previous placement or site experience is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to cost estimates, budgets and tender submissions.
• Support procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, learning value optimization.
• Track and monitor project costs, valuations and payments.
• Assess and manage risks, opportunities and variations.
• Produce clear reports and documentation for clients and project teams.
• Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
• Develop skills in industry-standard systems and digital tools for commercial management.
