Job summary

RWE Offshore Wind offers a Year in Industry placement at the Sofia Offshore Windfarm in Grimsby, UK. This fixed-term, full-time role provides hands-on experience in Operations Engineering, exposure to offshore wind challenges, and a mentorship-driven development pathway.

You will gain practical insight into turbine life-cycle operations, work with a diverse team, and contribute to project planning, campaigns, and warranty close-outs while rotating across key site activities.

Qualifications

  • Ongoing studies in Electrical/Mechanical engineering; Year-in-industry placement required.
  • Eligibility to undertake a Year in Industry as part of the degree program.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate workloads independently and meet tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel to other sites with travel expenses covered.
  • Minimum five years’ residence in the UK due to National Security Vetting requirements.

About the role

  • Help manage the day-to-day activities of an offshore wind farm.
Job requirements and experience
  • Ongoing studies in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a combined engineering discipline.
  • Eligibility to complete a year in industry placement as part of the degree programme.
  • Very good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate workloads independently and meet tight deadlines.
  • Confidence working in a diverse team environment and engaging with a range of stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel to other sites when required, with travel expenses covered.

  • A minimum of five years’ residence in the UK due to the potential requirement for National Security Vetting.

This position is aimed at those currently studying who are eligible for a Year in Industry Placement. For those who will be graduating Summer 2027 we encourage you to apply for our graduate programme which will be advertised in January 2027.
