Job description

Year 8 Teacher – Full-Time SEN Setting

TARA Professional Recruitment are working in partnership with a specialist SEN secondary school in Telford to recruit a Year 8 Teacher to support pupils across a mixture of subjects.

This is a full-time position and offers an excellent opportunity for a Year 8 Teacher who is confident working across different subjects and passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs in their learning and development.

The school provides a supportive and inclusive specialist learning environment, with a strong focus on meeting the individual needs of pupils and helping them to achieve their potential. The successful candidate will join a dedicated team of staff and play an important role in supporting pupils' academic, social and emotional development.

The role

As a Year 8 Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching and supporting a Year 8 cohort across a mixture of subjects. The role will require a flexible and adaptable approach, as you may be required to deliver or support learning across different curriculum areas.

The successful Year 8 Teacher will adapt their teaching approach to meet the individual needs, abilities and learning styles of pupils. You will establish positive relationships with pupils, maintain effective classroom management and create a calm, structured and supportive learning environment.

The role will involve working closely with colleagues and the wider school team to ensure pupils receive consistent support and appropriate learning opportunities. Experience of working with pupils with SEN, additional learning needs or behavioural needs would be advantageous.

This opportunity would suit a Year 8 Teacher who is patient, nurturing and confident adapting their teaching to support pupils who may require a more personalised approach to learning.

Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience working within a secondary school setting.
  • Experience teaching or supporting pupils at Key Stage 3.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEN or additional learning needs.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • The ability to work confidently across a range of subjects.

  • A flexible, reliable and professional approach.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one.
