Job summary

Aspire People are recruiting a Secondary SEN Teacher to join a specialist setting in Telford on a full-time, long-term basis, with potential for permanency. You will teach across secondary age groups in a supportive SEN environment.

The role requires QTS or recognised equivalent and experience working with pupils with autism, ADHD and other needs. You will plan differentiating lessons and work closely with the SEN team to support pupils’ development.

  • Experience teaching at secondary level.
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN.
  • Ability to adapt lessons to individual pupil needs.

Secondary SEN Teacher - Telford

Location: Telford
Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm
Contract: Full-time | Term-time only
Duration: Long-term, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate

Aspire People are currently recruiting for a Secondary SEN Teacher to join a fantastic specialist setting in Telford on a full-time, long-term basis, with the potential for a permanent position for the right candidate.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is nurturing, patient and adaptable, with a broad knowledge of different subjects and a passion for supporting young people with additional needs to achieve their full potential.

The Role
  • Teaching pupils across secondary age groups
  • Working within a specialist SEN setting
  • Teaching across a range of subjects depending on the needs and abilities of the pupils
  • Planning and delivering engaging, accessible and differentiated lessons
  • Supporting pupils with a wide range of SEN and additional needs
  • Adapting teaching and learning to meet individual needs and abilities
  • Supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and other additional needs
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support where required
  • Supporting pupils with their academic, social and emotional development
  • Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and life skills
  • Utilising specialist areas, sensory spaces and safe spaces where appropriate
  • Working closely with teaching assistants, support staff and the wider SEN team
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
About You

Ideally, you will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognised equivalent
  • Previous experience teaching at secondary level
  • A broad knowledge of the secondary curriculum and confidence teaching across a range of subjects
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN
  • Experience within a specialist SEN setting would be highly beneficial
  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH or complex additional needs
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs
  • A patient, calm, empathetic and nurturing approach
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • The ability to adapt lessons and teaching approaches to individual pupils
  • Teachers with strong mainstream experience who are looking to move into a specialist SEN setting are also encouraged to apply.
