Job summary

Step Teachers Ltd is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming primary school in Suffolk for an experienced Year 6 Teacher. This full-time, long-term role starts January 2027 and requires prior Year 6 experience; applications from ECTs will not be considered.

You will lead a Year 6 class, prepare pupils for end-of-KS2 assessments, monitor progress, and work with parents and colleagues to support attainment and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• QTS is required.
• Previous Year 6 teaching experience is highly desirable.
• ECTs are not suitable for this role.
• Strong understanding of Upper Key Stage 2 expectations and assessment requirements.
• Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Ability to raise attainment and support pupil progress.

Responsibilities

• Lead a Year 6 class and deliver engaging lessons across the upper Key Stage 2 curriculum
• Prepare pupils for end-of-Key Stage 2 assessments and transition to secondary school
• Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality learning opportunities
• Monitor and track pupil progress effectively
• Support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour, attainment, and achievement
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community
