Job summary

Teach Plus are recruiting a Year 6 Teacher for January 2027 at a welcoming primary school in Waltham Forest, London. The post covers KS2 delivery, SATs preparation and fostering a positive classroom environment to support pupil attainment and progress.

The ideal candidate will have QTS or a recognised UK teaching qualification with primary experience and strong communication skills to engage pupils, parents and colleagues.

About the role and school

Teach Plus are working with a welcoming primary school in Waltham Forest that is looking to appoint an enthusiastic Year 6 Teacher from January 2027.

The school is seeking a confident Year 6 Teacher who can prepare pupils for the transition to secondary school while maintaining high expectations for attainment, progress and behaviour.

The successful Year 6 Teacher will be confident delivering the KS2 curriculum, preparing pupils for their SATs and identifying where additional support or intervention is needed. This role would suit an experienced Year 6 practitioner who can create a positive classroom environment and help pupils approach their final year of primary school with confidence.

Job Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with the KS2 National Curriculum
• Prepare pupils for Year 6 SATs and end-of-key-stage assessments
• Assess pupil progress and use this information to inform planning
• Deliver targeted interventions where required
• Differentiate learning to support a range of abilities
• Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management
• Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and colleagues
• Communicate effectively with parents and carers where appropriate
• Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development
• Prepare pupils for a successful transition to secondary school

Qualifications/Experience

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognised UK teaching qualification
• Previous primary teaching experience
• Year 6 teaching experience desirable
• Strong knowledge of the KS2 curriculum and SATs requirements
• Confident assessment, planning and classroom management skills
• Ability to identify learning gaps and deliver effective interventions
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Reliable, adaptable and committed to pupil progress
