Job summary

Supply Desk in Chesham is seeking a dedicated Year 6 Teacher to inspire and support pupils through engaging, well-structured lessons.

You will deliver core subjects, prepare students for SATs, monitor progress, and work with staff to foster a positive, safeguarding-conscious learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Key Stage 2 and Year 6 expectations.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging, inclusive lessons.
  • Experience preparing pupils for SATs is desirable.
  • Commitment to raising attainment for all abilities.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and create supportive environment.
  • Understanding safeguarding procedures.
  • QTS or teaching qualification desirable.
  • Current enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, challenging, and inclusive lessons in line with the Key Stage 2 curriculum.
  • Teach Year 6 pupils across a range of abilities, supporting them to develop their knowledge, skills, confidence, and independence.
  • Prepare pupils effectively for their SATs, ensuring they develop a strong understanding of key concepts across the curriculum.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching across core subjects, including English, Mathematics, Science, and other areas of the Year 6 curriculum.
  • Encourage pupils to think critically, solve problems, communicate effectively, and apply their learning to a range of contexts.
  • Assess, monitor, and record pupils' progress, providing constructive feedback to support their academic development and attainment.
  • Identify individual learning needs and provide appropriate support, challenge, and intervention to ensure all pupils make progress.
  • Create a positive, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages curiosity, independence, participation, and a love of learning.
  • Promote high standards of behaviour, engagement, effort, and respect within the classroom.
  • Support pupils in developing the confidence, resilience, and independence needed for a successful transition to secondary school.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, teaching assistants, parents, and the wider school community to support pupil progress and wellbeing.
  • Contribute to planning, resources, enrichment activities, school events, and wider school initiatives where required.
  • Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.
Requirements
