Job summary

Step Teachers Ltd. is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant for a friendly primary school in England. This full-time position starts immediately and runs until Christmas, with potential extension until Easter.

You will support pupils with SEND, work with individuals and small groups, and help students access the curriculum while promoting safeguarding and wellbeing. Ideal candidates will have SEND experience, good communication skills, patience, and the ability to work well in a team.

Qualifications

• Previous SEND experience is essential.
• Experience supporting children with additional needs such as ASD/ADHD/SEMH or speech and language difficulties is desirable.
• Patient, caring and resilient approach with strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with Special Educational Needs within the classroom.
• Work with individuals and small groups to support learning and engagement.
• Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and classroom activities.
• Support communication, social skills, and emotional wellbeing.
• Implement strategies provided by the class teacher and SENDCo.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
• Help create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
