Job summary

Supply Desk is seeking a dedicated Year 5 Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Longwick. This part-time role (3 days per week) starts October 2026 and involves delivering engaging lessons to KS2 pupils and supporting their academic and personal development.

You will plan and assess according to the National Curriculum, work with teaching assistants, and help pupils develop reading, writing and numeracy while upholding safeguarding policies.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive lessons in line with the National Curriculum for Key Stage 2.
• Create a positive, safe, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages curiosity and confidence.
• Deliver a broad and balanced curriculum, supporting literacy, numeracy and wider academic skills.
• Teach and support reading, writing, spelling, grammar, mathematics and problem-solving.
• Assess, monitor and record pupils' progress, using data to inform planning and targeted support.
• Prepare pupils for Year 5 expectations and continued development across the curriculum.
• Promote positive behaviour in line with the school's policy.
• Collaborate with colleagues, teaching assistants, parents and the wider school team.
• Encourage independence, resilience and effective learning habits.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and inclusive lessons in line with the National Curriculum for Key Stage 2.
• Create a positive, safe, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages curiosity, confidence, independence, and a love of learning.
• Deliver a broad and balanced curriculum, supporting pupils in developing their literacy, numeracy, and wider academic skills.
• Teach and support pupils with reading, writing, spelling, grammar, mathematics, and problem-solving skills.
• Assess, monitor, and record pupils' progress, using assessment data to inform planning and provide targeted support where required.
• Prepare pupils for the increased academic expectations of Year 5 and support their continued development across the curriculum.
• Promote positive behaviour and high expectations in line with the school's behaviour policy.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, teaching assistants, parents, and the wider school team to support pupils' progress and wellbeing.
• Encourage pupils to develop independence, resilience, confidence, and effective learning habits.
• Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.
