The candidate will take responsibility for a Year 2 class and play an important role in developing pupils' reading, writing, mathematics and wider learning skills.

Qualifications

• QTS with strong KS1 teaching experience.
• Good understanding of phonics and early reading.
• Excellent knowledge of the primary curriculum.
• Strong classroom-management skills.
• Ability to differentiate effectively.
• Positive and nurturing personality.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Experience in Year 2 context is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead a Year 2 class and establish an engaging and purposeful learning environment.
• Develop pupils' fluency, comprehension and love of reading.
• Apply effective phonics teaching strategies and provide additional support.
• Build strong foundations in number and mathematical reasoning.
• Encourage pupils to develop vocabulary and confidence in writing.
• Use ongoing assessment to identify misconceptions and inform future planning.
• Support pupils as they progress through KS1 and prepare for the next stage.
• Maintain positive and professional relationships with families.
