Job summary

Smile Education is supporting a welcoming primary school in Wolverhampton to recruit a Year 1 Teaching Assistant starting ASAP. This full-time role offers targeted one-to-one SEN support and classroom assistance to help children transition from EYFS into Key Stage 1.

The ideal candidate has Level 3 TA qualification, experience in EYFS and Year 1, and a patient, adaptable approach. Strong references and the ability to deliver small-group interventions will be highly valued.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification highly desirable.
• Experience in EYFS and Year 1 settings.
• Experience supporting children with SEN.
• Caring, patient and adaptable approach to supporting learning.
• Confidence delivering both small group interventions and one-to-one support.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
• Proven school-based experience supported by strong references.

Responsibilities

• Supporting teaching and learning within a Year 1 classroom.
• Providing dedicated one-to-one support for a child with SEN.
• Assisting with interventions to support academic and social development.
• Helping to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment.
• Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure pupils receive the support they need to succeed.
