Job summary

Smile Education is seeking a dedicated Year 1 Teaching Assistant to support pupils transitioning from EYFS to Key Stage 1 in Wolverhampton. This role starts ASAP in a welcoming primary school, offering valuable chance to help children develop confidence, social skills and foundational learning.

You will assist with small group interventions and one-to-one support, particularly for a child with SEN, working closely with the class teacher and SENCO.

Qualifications

• A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is highly desirable.
• Experience in EYFS and Year 1 settings is preferred.
• Experience supporting children with SEN is essential.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning in a Year 1 classroom.

What We’re Looking For:

• A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is highly desirable.
• Previous experience working within EYFS and Year 1 settings.
• Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
• A caring, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting learning.
• Confidence delivering both small group interventions and one-to-one support.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
• Proven school-based experience supported by strong references.
