The role

As the Year 1 Teacher, you'll share responsibility for a Year 1 class, working closely with colleagues to ensure pupils receive consistent, engaging and supportive teaching throughout the week.

You'll plan and deliver creative lessons that capture pupils' interest while helping them develop the key skills and confidence they need as they progress through Key Stage 1.

A key part of the role will be supporting children with phonics and early reading, alongside developing their confidence in writing, maths and the wider curriculum.

You'll also:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons
  • Support pupils with a range of needs and abilities
  • Deliver high-quality phonics and early reading sessions
  • Assess and monitor pupil progress
  • Create a positive, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants and other members of staff
