Desian Education are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a Year 1 team in a welcoming primary school. The role focuses on providing 1:1 support for a female Year 1 pupil with high-functioning ASD within a mainstream classroom.

You will help the pupil stay engaged, recognise dysregulation early, and promote independence while working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure access to the full curriculum.

Qualificações

• Experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with ASD.
• Experience working with younger pupils in a mainstream classroom.
• Dedicated and nurturing approach to learning.

Responsabilidades

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support within the Year 1 classroom.
• Supporting the pupil to remain focused and engaged during lessons.
• Recognising early signs of dysregulation and implementing appropriate strategies.
• Helping the pupil develop positive self-regulation and emotional management skills.
• Supporting transitions between lessons, activities and routines.
• Encouraging independence rather than creating unnecessary reliance on 1:1 support.
• Working alongside the class teacher to ensure the pupil can access the full curriculum.
• Supporting positive social interaction with peers.
• Using engaging and creative approaches to maintain attention and motivation.
• Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team.
